The Magic is: We already Know

A true story in which all the magic of manifestation, imagination, and pure knowing aligns.
One blustery December afternoon, I brought my three-year-old granddaughter to the library. Outside, the wind whipped our coat strings across our cheeks, and wet snowflakes landed on our eyelashes, blurring our vision as we hurried across the icy parking lot. Finally, we reached the thick glass doors and stepped into a grand, stately lobby.
To the right was the library we had come to visit. But to the left—something unexpected. A lush indoor garden, filled with fountains and man-made waterfalls, plants of every kind, and a winding path that led down to a lower level.
“What does that trail lead to?” I asked a nearby librarian as we wriggled out of our hats, mittens, and scarves.
“That’s our indoor playground,” she said with a smile.
My granddaughter’s eyes sparkled.
“A park?” she gasped, the word bursting out with wonder. Then, turning to me with wide, pleading eyes: “Gramma?”
I shrugged and smiled. “Okay.”
Hand in hand, we stepped into the garden and began our descent. Midway down, we came upon a small wishing well, fed by one of the many trickling fountains. Coins were scattered along the rim and glimmered beneath the water.
“Did you know,” I said, bending down beside her, “that if you toss a penny into the well and make a wish, it just might come true?”
I rummaged through my purse and handed her a coin. She held it between her tiny fingers, turning it over thoughtfully. Then, with a deep breath and great ceremony, she tossed it into the water.
She pressed her little hands together, closed her eyes tight, and whispered:
“I wish... I wish I could be at the park downstairs. And...” she cracked one eye open to peek at me, then shut it again, “I wish Gramma Andi was there with me too.”
With that, she beamed, cheeks rosy with excitement, and ran off down the trail toward the playground entrance. As we arrived, a young man wearing an official badge opened the gate with a friendly gesture, waving us in.
My granddaughter ran inside, taking it all in—the swings, slides, tunnels, climbing forts, and even a faux stream with a giant boat. Children were already scattered throughout, laughing and playing.
She turned to me, her voice rising with joy.
“Woooow! Gramma, oh my gosh!! Wishes really DO come true!”
